Top Posts of 2013

January 6, 2014

In the spirit of vanity (and a slow January travel-wise), I’m going to keep recapping 2013.  Ok? Ok.  Here are my top blog posts according to your views, comments and shares:

Top Travel Post: Provincetown Play Day

One of the highlights of my trip to Cape Cod this summer was the day that Stanley and I spent exploring quirky, fabulous Provincetown.  I credit this post’s popularity to a lot of Facebook sharing love from P-town businesses and the photos of men in tutus.  Probably mostly the men in tutus. 🙂

Top Ski Post: Beaver Creek Women’s Social Tour

Beaver Creek Womens Social Tour

The Beaver Creek Women’s Social Tour is an awesome *free* opportunity for female visitors to meet new people, ski with a group and pick up some tips along the way.  Even as a local, I loved the experience.  Check it out if you happen to be at Beaver Creek!

Top Food Post: Portland Doughnut Battle

Blue Star Donuts

You guys love your doughnuts and so do I!  While in Portland, I got to sample two of the city’s most popular doughnut shops: the legendary Voodoo Doughnuts and a newer, toned-down competitor Blue Star Donuts.  Check out the post for my verdict.

Top Hiking Post: Full Moon Hike in Arches National Park

Delicate Arch in moonlight

I thought this was one of my coolest hikes ever and apparently you agreed!  While visiting Moab, I hiked to Utah’s famous Delicate Arch under a full moon.  It was as magical as it was difficult to photograph.

Top Wine Post:  Willamette Valley Wine Tasting

Oregon Wine Country

I wrote quite a bit about my favorite beverage this year.  One of my favorite wine experiences was also apparently yours – the rainy day I spent tasting Pinot Noir in Oregon’s Willamette Valley with friends.  If you ever find yourself in the area, White Rose Estate was my favorite stop of the day.

Most Commented-Upon Post: 30 Before 30

On my 28th birthday, I decided to put together a short-term bucket list to knock out before the big 3-0.  I’ve still got quite a way to go, and this has been one of my favorite posts in terms of the fun I had compiling it, but more importantly the fun I’ve had pursuing it!

Sunrise Dance

I knocked two items off my list at once: #25 going on a hut trip, and #26 watching the sunrise from a mountaintop!

With that, I’m officially done dwelling on 2013.  I’m excited to see what 2014 will bring – let’s make it the best year yet!

I love Arches and P-Town. And obviously, Portland OR. Love your conclusion on the best doughnut post 🙂
