A to Z Survey

August 7, 2013

I read this survey recently on one of my favorite healthy living blogs, Carrots ‘n’ Cake, and thought it would be fun to post here.  This might be when you guys all tell me that you don’t really care about learning more about me and would rather hear about my latest travels, but I hope that’s not the case, or that you’ll at least kindly keep those thoughts to yourself. 🙂  I’m busy soaking up family time while my parents, sister and brother-in-law visit me this week, so until I have time to tell you about that…

A. Attached or single?

Attached. I’ve been lucky enough to find a guy who likes to travel and enjoy life as much as I do and have been with him for about 5 years.

Pelican Bar

B. Best friend?

I’ve been blessed with more than one.

C. Cake or pie?

Cake.  Give me that funfetti.

D. Day of choice?

Saturday.  So many possibilities, not a work day in sight!

E. Essential item?

Water bottle.  I drink water like you wouldn’t believe.

F. Favorite color?

G. Gummy bears or worms?

Bears.  I’m not crazy about gummies in general but at least the bears are cute.

H. Home town?

Williamsburg, Virginia.  You know, the land of tri-corner hats, breeches and middle school field trips.

Williamsburg Style

I. Favorite indulgence?

Dining at fancy restaurants.

Kaluz scallops

J. January or July?

July. It might be my favorite month of the year – summer in the mountains can’t be beat!

K. Kids?

My friends are starting to have them and that’s awesome!

L. Life isn’t complete without?

Friends, family, travel, food and wine.

Friends and wine - two of life's necessary ingredients!

Friends and wine – two of life’s necessary ingredients!

M. Marriage date?

Some time off in the great unknown.

N. Number of brothers/sisters?

One hilarious, beautiful, kind, brilliant and stylish sister.

St. John's Basilica 2

O. Oranges or Apples?

You’re all going to think I’m a freak now, but I don’t really like fruit.  I’ve just recently started to embrace berries and like peaches when they’re delicious and in season.  That said, I love a tall glass of orange juice, so let’s go with oranges.

P. Phobias?

Tornados scare the bejeezus out of me.

Q. Quotes?

I used to have this whole wall of cheesy inspirational quotes in my bedroom growing up.  It was something to behold.  I can’t remember any of them, so consulting what I happen to have pinned to Pinterest lately…

“The best things in life are free.  The second best are very expensive.” – Coco Chanel

“Blessed are the curious for they shall have adventures.”

R. Reasons to smile?

I was recently reflecting that I am one seriously blessed girl… I’m healthy, have a lot of love in my life and live in a place that energizes me every day.  But some of the little things that make me smile are:

Beagle puppies.

A cold glass of white wine on a sunny patio.

Summer produce from the farmer’s market.

Throwback music on the Pop2k radio station.

Snail mail.

S. Season of choice?

Summer in the mountains is amazing and fleeting.

Stag Gulch View

T. Tag 5 People.

I’m not sure what this is all about, but these are some of my favorite bloggers:  Diane, Lucy, Lesley, Marisa and Paige.

U. Unknown fact about me?

Despite living in the mountains and loving the great outdoors, I have never gone camping.  I am ashamed and hoping to remedy this by the end of the summer.

V. Vegetable?

I love pretty much all of them, and can’t get enough salads right now – bring on healthy summer eating!

W. Worst habit?

Freaking out when I think I’m going to be late, even if it’s only for my own self-imposed deadline.  Thanks, Mom.

X. X-Ray or ultrasound?

I’d prefer to need neither.

Y. Your favorite food?

Cornbread.  No, biscuits.  Ok, breads of all sorts.  Don’t ever try to tell me I need to go gluten-free.

Fried Chicken, Egg and Cheese

Z. Zodiac sign?

Aries.  I’m supposed to be stubborn but I really don’t think I am.  No, seriously, I’m not – just drop it already, ok?

Thanks for indulging me everyone! Please, play along in the comments – what’s your favorite food?  Favorite indulgence?  A reason to smile?

I need to go camping at some point soon too.. I hate letting this good weather pass me by without sleeping outside under the stars! I also freak out when I’m “late” by my own standards.. which is normally on time 🙂 Thanks for the shout out and I love your blog too!!
